## The problem

Editing is slower than writing: making a message politer, shorter or into a list means retyping it or pasting it into a chatbot and back.

## How to do it with DictationDesk

1. **Create your account**: Free; command mode is included.
2. **Connect the Windows app**: Paste a device token into the app.
3. **Select the text**: In any app, select the paragraph or message you want to change.
4. **Hold Ctrl+Win+Alt and say the change**: “make this more formal”, “shorter”, “fix the grammar”, “bullet points”.
5. **Release**: The edited text replaces your selection. Press Ctrl+Z in most apps to undo.

## Tips

- Short, clear instructions work best.
- Command mode needs the cloud; it doesn't run offline.
- Use it after dictating a rough draft.

## When DictationDesk is not the right tool

Command mode edits the text you select; it does not search the web or write long new content from nothing. For research or long writing from scratch, use a writing assistant.
